Positioned for the Promise

"Joshua told the people, 'Consecrate yourselves, because the LORD will do wonders among you tomorrow.'" – Joshua 3:5 (CSB)
Reflection
God's promises are not only about where He is taking us—they are also about who He is shaping us to become. Before Israel crossed the Jordan River into the Promised Land, Joshua called the people to consecrate themselves. They had to prepare their hearts before experiencing God's power. Their miracle was tied to their obedience, faith, and willingness to step into the unknown. The priests had to step into the overflowing Jordan before God stopped the waters. Sometimes God asks us to trust Him before we see the miracle.
The same principle applies to us today. God has declared that He knows the plans He has for His people—plans for peace, hope, and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). Yet those promises are often fulfilled in seasons of preparation. God uses difficult moments to refine our faith, correct our hearts, and align us with His purpose. Instead of letting fear or frustration define us, Jesus reminds us, "Don't let your heart be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in Me" (John 14:1). Faith positions us to receive what God has already prepared.
Being positioned for God's promise means living a surrendered, obedient, and Christ-confident life. Wherever God leads, He provides His presence. Just as He was with Joshua and Israel, Jesus promises to be with us today. The promise is not simply about arriving at a destination; it is about walking every step with the One who is the Way.

Are you trusting God's promise more than your current circumstances?
Prayer
Father, thank You for preparing me for the promises You have spoken over my life. Help me live a consecrated life, fully surrendered to Your will. Give me the courage to step forward in faith, even when I cannot see the outcome. When fear tries to trouble my heart, remind me that Jesus is the Way and that Your plans for me are filled with hope and a future. Position me to receive all You have prepared and let my life bring glory to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
This Week's Challenge: Take one practical step of faith today that reflects your trust in God. Whether it is forgiving someone, starting a new assignment, serving someone, or spending intentional time in prayer, remember that obedience often precedes the miracle. Stay consecrated, stay faithful, and trust that God is positioning you for His promise.
