He Got Up—Now What?
From the Desk of Pastor Owens
“He Got Up—Now What?”
Luke 24:5–6
“Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen!”
Easter reminds us of the greatest truth in history: Jesus is alive. The tomb is empty, death is defeated, and the story did not end in silence. But the question for us is not just what happened—it’s what does it mean for us now?
When the women came to the tomb, they were expecting to find Jesus where they had last seen Him—buried. Instead, they were met with a question that still speaks to us today: “Why do you seek the living among the dead?”
How often do we do the same?
We look for peace in things that don’t last.
We search for purpose in places that leave us empty.
We revisit old mindsets, old habits, and old hurts—expecting life to come from what God has already moved us beyond.
But the resurrection changes everything.
Because He got up, you don’t have to stay stuck.
Because He got up, your past is not your final chapter.
Because He got up, what feels buried in your life can live again.
The same power that raised Jesus from the grave is now available to you—not just to inspire you, but to transform you.
So the question becomes: Are you still living like He’s in the tomb, or are you walking like He’s alive?
Ask yourself....
What “dead places” in your life are you still looking to for fulfillment?
Are there areas where you’ve been living as if Jesus is distant instead of present?
What would it look like for you to fully live in the reality of the resurrection today?
Application
Shift Your Focus: Stop revisiting what God has already brought you out of.
Live with Expectation: Approach today believing that resurrection power is at work in your life.
Surrender Daily: The risen King is not just to be celebrated—He is to be followed.
Prayer
Lord, I thank You that You are not in the grave—You are alive. Forgive me for the times I have looked for life in things that cannot satisfy. Help me to walk in the power of Your resurrection and to live each day with faith, purpose, and surrender. Teach me to trust You fully and to follow You faithfully. In Jesus’ name, amen.
